A DECLAMATION COMPENSATION
☐ Declamation; Worth it?
During our Effective Communication class,
each student were assigned to memorize a piece
during our Christmas break.
others chose pieces that suited their tones and
a piece they could somewhat relate to.
although mines was different...
It all started way back in ninth grade,
when we had our speech improvement class
a certain Ms. Jen, had asked us to memorize pieces
although it was a declamation and an oratorical category.
For my declamation piece back then,
I chose "we have become untrue to ourselves" by Felix Bautista
while my oratorical piece was my very own favorite called
"Home" by Alonzo Barbaza.
we recited our own pieces as the big day approached
till a close friend of mine had recited his piece called the "Lost Generation"
that he had seen from the internet, through research.
this piece had caught my attention ever since.
So this is when I decided...
"This year! I will join our speech fest
once again for the declamation category
and recite the piece the "Lost Generation"! "
Sad to say... I missed the auditions, since I wasn't informed
that the auditions had been transferred to another room in the building.
All the sleepless night I stayed up
retyping and typing oratorical and declamation pieces,
till that day of agony had struck me..
I ended up mentioning it to a friend I've met not so long ago,
although feels like I've known the person that long already.
I mentioned about my piece and the person found it interesting
and asked me to write it down on his journal.
He was too inspired by the piece that he decided to make
a poem of his own that is quite similar to it.
Every single meeting, a paragraph would be written
till i'd be able to finish it.
and during the process, it made me memorize the piece
by heart and helped me sooner or later during my EfCom class.
So sleepless nights or not, It was worth the piece.
*hail the composer. ;)
Someday.... I shall make my own piece as well..
